Read carefully all the restrictions. Know about all the hunters that have died, as well as the fate of several Safari leaders. It's perilous. Most dangerous. And, oh yes, you must keep to a path that floats above the ground. Nothing may touch. Make the smallest mistake and on your return you'll be arrested. Still interested? Ray Bradbury explores the plight and consequences of changing the past, even so much as a single blade of grass pushed aside, or one butterfly disturbed.

The reader is in for an unexpected ride. When back from this thundering hunter's adventure, should you really be thankful that you have safely returned to the offices of “Tyme Sefari, Inc.”? By story's end you will surely know.

The sign on the wall seemed to quaver under a film of sliding warm water. Eckels felt his eyelids blink over his stare, and the sign burned in this momentary darkness:

Warm phlegm gathered in Eckels' throat; he swallowed and pushed it down. The muscles around his mouth formed a smile as he put his hand slowly out upon the air, and in that hand waved a check for ten thousand dollars to the man behind the desk.

“Does this safari guarantee I come back alive?”

“We guarantee nothing,” said the official, “except the dinosaurs.”
